About Us
Dennis and Wilma Grandbois started Nickel City Motors in Thompson, Manitoba in 1969. They started selling snowmobiles, as well as Datsun automobiles.
After operating out of two other locations in Thompson, we moved into the current location at 7 Station Road in 1973 and have been here since, while having another location that we use to store our off-season products with inside and outside storage. We currently have 13 employees and most are long term dedicated recreation enthusiasts.
Dennis and Willie have 5 children, Wendy, Darren, Brent, Steve, and Deanna. It was their dream to have the kids take over the business, and that’s exactly what happened in the mid 90s when they were of age, with the present owners of Nickel City Motors being Wendy and Steve. The other kids have all stayed in the recreation end of things but have gone on their own.
Nickel City Motors celebrated our 35 years of business in 2005 and are proud to be the oldest original Ski-Doo dealer in Manitoba. As well as stocking the most parts as anyone in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, we have won quite a few awards in the past with the most recent one being Dealer of the Year in March of 2006.
Steve and Wendy are proud of our whole team for taking us there and a big thank you to our dedicated long term recreation customers!
